Sex Differences in Athletic

Performance

Study Details

The purpose of this research study is to investigate sex differences in performance using experimental laboratory collected data that assess the physiological components of performance as well as both current and historical real world performance data. Sex-related differences in physiology and anatomy are responsible for profound differences in neuromuscular performance and fatiguability between men and women. In recent decades, world records and performance of elite athletes are largely considered proxies for the limits of human performance, these proxies can help define differences between males and females, and across age groups for a multitude of events.
