Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Rachel is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Neuromuscular Physiology of Human Movement Laboratory. Rachel completed her PhD and MS degree in Movement Science at the University of Michigan after obtaining her BS degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University.
Her research focuses on the aging process and findings ways for older adults to remain active and independent into later life. She uses a variety of methodologies to achieve these aims including analysis of population-based datasets, lab-based and community-based research. Presently, she has an interest in understanding the mechanisms underlying the large decreases in strength and performance observed in females after the menopause transition.
Outside the lab, Rachel enjoys going for walks, baking sweet treats, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog.
